NEWS: Gerard Baden-Clay, in the yellow Century 21 jacket, promoting his real estate franchise before the Brookfield disappearance of his wife Allison.
GERARD Baden-Clay is known for his adept self-promotion, never shy of talking up his business interests as a tireless and ambitious networker.
Which makes his absence from public appeals since his wife Allison vanished almost as perplexing as the disappearance itself.
In a written statement on Friday he told of being “very concerned” for his wife and said his priority was his young daughters, requesting respect for his privacy.
But before the disappearance he had extensive media experience and used the internet for promotion.
“We’re only a relatively young business, seven nearly eight years now, but we consistently deliver the brand and the business comes first and the individuals are part of that,” he says in one YouTube video (above) from last year.
Friends told The Sunday Mail the business had been struggling to stay afloat in a tough market and the couple’s relationship had been under strain for some years.

Police are examining his Century 21 Westside real estate franchise, executing a search warrant they said was standard practice.
They have interviewed a former worker who declined to comment to The Sunday Mail last week, and former business partners who also did not want to comment.
