Clooney, 50, who is nominated for a best actor Oscar for “The Descendents,”
was married once, and is divorced from actress Talia Balsam. He is currently
in a relationship with former professional wrestler Stacy Keibler.
He said: “I drink at times too much. I do enjoy drinking, and there have
been times in my life when it’s crossed the line from being fun to having to
drink late at night for absolutely no reason. So what I do is, I stop. I
haven’t had a drink since New Year’s Eve.”
He is in bed by 10pm most evenings, but said: “Without question I wake up
every night five times.”
Clooney also admitted to having sampled cocaine as a young actor, but added: “Blow
is absolutely a nonstarter.”
He has previously joked that he could not run for public office because he had “slept
with too many women, done too many drugs and been to too many parties.”
The actor described how he was “unhappy” and “failing at most
things” before finding stardom in the television hospital drama ER in
1994.
He also spoke about how he lives with chronic pain following a head injury
sustained during filming in 2005.
According to the interview he earns less than people assume, having accepted a
fee of $300,000 for “The Descendents.”
