Israel is pressing ahead with its deadly military campaign against the Gaza Strip. At least 11 Palestinians have lost their lives in fresh airstrikes on the coastal enclave.
The raids which targeted an area in Gaza City, have also injured a number of other Gazans. An earlier strike on Rafah crossing in southern Gaza wounded several other Gazans. Meanwhile, Hamas’s military wing Qassam Brigades captured an Israeli drone in Shejaiya district. Over 2,130 Palestinians have been killed since Tel Aviv launched its onslaught on Gaza. Nearly 570 of them are children. Nearly 1,100 others have been injured. Palestinian officials say the coastal enclave is suffering from a serious shortage of medical supplies.

Examining international legal authorities such as the Genocide Convention, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Court of Justice, the article demonstrates that groups which are being subjected to genocide have a legal right of self-defense. International treaties, Security Council arms embargoes, or national gun control laws cannot lawfully be enforced in a manner which prevents self-defense resistance to a genocide in progress, because under international law, the prohibition against any form of complicity in genocide takes legal precedence over lesser laws.
