Gaza confab urges liberation of al-Quds

Hundreds of Gaza residents and a number of representatives from Palestinian factions attended the event held at the Rashad Shawa Cultural Center on Sunday.

Palestinian cleric Sheikh Yusuf Salamah said in an address to the gathering that it is important that Muslims in general and Palestinians in particular put aside their differences and unite in order to save the holy city and liberate it from the Israeli occupation.

A delegation of the Egyptian Nour Party was also present at the conference.

Emad Abdel Ghafour, head of the Nour Party, said Palestinian national reconciliation is the “first step toward the formation of a united front to face all threats against the holy city and to end the suffering of Palestinians.”

“It is sad to see the inaction of the international community when it comes to ending Israel’s oppression of the Palestinian people.”

The Sunday conference was held a few weeks after university professors and students held a conference in Gaza City to call for the academic and cultural boycott of Israel. The event was organized by the campaign of Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel (BDS).
