Fyre Media founder Billy McFarland, who headed the failed Fyre Festival alongside Ja Rule, has been arrested. On Friday, McFarland was charged with one count of wire fraud and potentially faces 20 years in prison.

In a statement, Acting US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Joon H. Kim said: “McFarland allegedly presented fake documents to induce investors to put over a million dollars into his company and the fiasco called the Fyre Festival.

Thanks to the investigative efforts of the FBI, McFarland will now have to answer for his crimes.

” It was revealed in May that the FBI had begun investigating Fyre following the Bahamas debacle, which concluded in a “postponed” festival and at least seven different resultant lawsuits against Fyre.

A New York Times report revealed that the federal authorities were “looking into possible mail, wire and securities fraud.”
