Over time, the loss of the food chain–and in fact, the very plankton that generates the bulk of the breathable oxygen we depend on, and the long term destruction to mitochondrial DNA in many living species, over a few decades–poses such a grave threat to all living things that not only humans – but much of the animal kingdom face ‘extinction’ due to these changes.
