Campaigning ended on Friday night, AFP reported.
According to the last opinion poll published ahead of the deadline forecast, Sarkozy trails Hollande by a margin of four percent.
Hollande won the April 22 first round with 28.63 percent of the votes to Sarkozy’s 27.18 percent.
On Wednesday, the candidates traded insults in the televised head-to-head debate.
The president labeled Hollande a liar and a “little slanderer” while Hollande accused Sarkozy of shirking his responsibilities, cronyism and favoring the privileged over France’s poor.
Some 46 million voters are eligible to vote on Sunday.
Economy, unemployment and immigration concerns are among the top issues considered by voters.
