FOUR beaches evacuated this morning after three separate shark sightings have been reopened.

Brighton, Trigg, Scarborough and Watermans beaches were closed to the public after the Surf Life Saving WA chopper spotted two 2.5m sharks early this morning and a third 3.5m shark at about 10am.

Two sharks had been lingering between the popular swimming spots but have since left the area, allowing surf life savers to re-open the beaches.

SLSWA could not determine the species of each shark today, but all were spotted between 50m and 75m off shore.

As many as eight sharks were spotted off Scarborough and the South-West coast on Sunday, forcing the closure of a number of busy beaches.

Swimmers at Scarborough Beach were cleared from the water just before 6pm after a private helicopter spotted a 3-4 metre shark.

SLSWA said the shark was spotted about 500m south of Scarborough, with the beach remaining closed overnight.

Earlier Sunday, life savers were kept busy with six shark sightings in the South-West, some up to 3.5m in length, off Bunbury and Dalyellup.

It’s understood two sharks were spotted opposite the Bunbury Marina about 10.30am while another was also sighted at the end of Mangles Street in Bunbury.

The Bunbury and Dalyellup surf life saving clubs took no chances, closing both beaches for the entire day.

SLSWA said all sightings were about 50m offshore.
