Four Afghan troops killed in bomb blast

The explosion occurred after a bomb went off inside the army base in the town of Maghar in Badghis Province on Saturday, according to local sources.

Afghan security forces first discovered an undetonated bomb outside the army base, which they said belonged to the Taliban.

The bomb was then transferred to the base to be detonated via a remote control device, but it left casualties after detonation.

The incident came in the wake of fresh violent clashes in several provinces of the war-ravaged country over Qur’an burning by the US-led forces, which left at least 30 people, including two US soldiers killed and around 180 others injured.

The US invaded Afghanistan in 2001 under the pretext of the war on terror and toppling the Taliban regime.

However, insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan despite the presence of thousands of US-led foreign forces in the country.

Washington has turned to negotiations with Taliban militants after ten years of the waging war on Afghanistan.
