Force India pulls out of Bahrain practice

The racing team pulled out of a second practice session at the Bahrain Grand Prix on Friday so they could return to their hotel before dark.

The decision comes after four team members were caught up in a petrol-bomb incident in a car returning to their hotel, during a clash between protesters and police on Wednesday.

Dozens of Bahraini protesters were injured in clashes between anti-regime protesters and government forces ahead of the Friday practices of the Formula One Grand Prix.

Bahrain’s main opposition group Al Wefaq has called for a week of daily rallies to protest against the race, scheduled to take place in the country in two days.

Protesters believe the event is being used by the Al Khalifa regime to portray a normal picture of the state of affairs on the ground in the sheikdom, which has been witnessing anti-regime rallies since February 2011.

Last year, Formula One’s governing body cancelled the contest in the country over nationwide anti-government protests.
