Britain has since advised against all but essential travel to the area. It is
not thought that any Brits were involved in this incident.
“We are urgently investigating reports of an attack on foreign tourists
in Ethiopia,” a Foreign Office spokesman said.
At least two German holidaymakers were feared to be involved in the attack,
German television and Ethiopian media said.
“The details are not clear at all yet, but we are hearing that two and
maybe five people have been killed and two others have been kidnapped,”
said a Western diplomat in Addis Ababa.
An Ethiopian police spokesman refused to comment.
