THE producers of the controversial sitcom At Home with Julia hope to make a UK version.
British Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha would be satirised in the series.
At Home with Julia provoked outrage with a scene in which actors playing Prime Minister Julia Gillard and her partner, Tim Mathieson, were draped in the Australian flag after having sex in the PM’s office.
The UK series would send up the Camerons’ domestic and romantic lives.
Producers Quail Television are holding talks with UK broadcasters and hope to sell the format at the Mipcom television festival in Cannes this week.
At Home with Julia starred Amanda Bishop as Ms Gillard and co-writer Phil Lloyd as Mr Mathieson.
Political satire has a strong TV heritage in the UK. Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister, starring Paul Eddington, Nigel Hawthorne and Derek Fowlds, were especially popular.
