One person has been killed and another injured in two separate bomb explosions carried out in the Pakistani capital.
The blasts were carried out half an hour apart during the early hours of Saturday.
The first explosion hit a shopping area close to the city center in Islamabad. One security guard died and another was wounded.
“One watchman has died in the hospital; he was very critically wounded and did not survive. The second watchman is getting medical treatment,” said senior Pakistani police official Chaudhry Hafiz Hussain.
The second attack rocked a different area of the capital.
“The low-intensity explosive was planted in a car. The blast has badly damaged the car but no one was hurt,” said Mohammad Ali, another police official.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the bomb attacks.
Pakistan armed forces have been fighting militants over the past three days. More than 70 militants have been killed in the operations.
The army offensive was launched after the pro-Taliban militants ended a ceasefire that had originally been called to promote talks with the Pakistani government.
Islamabad began talks with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) through intermediaries in February. The ceasefire began on March 1.
Numerous attacks have been carried out against security forces as well as civilians by militants in Pakistan. They have managed to spread their influence in various regions of the country, despite sporadic offensives by the Pakistani army.
Thousands of Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001, when Pakistan entered an alliance with the United States on the so-called war on terror.
