Facebook Building a Phone With HTC for Mid-2013 [REPORT]
According to a Bloomberg report, Facebook has partnered up with HTC to build its own smartphone, scheduled for launch mid-2013.
The device was slated for a release this year, but the plans were pushed back, Bloomberg‘s sources say. Facebook is also said to be developing a modified OS for the smartphone, with a team of former Apple employees assembled for this purpose.
Rumors of a Facebook phone have been swirling around for years, but they never materialized. However, this latest report confirms a New York Times report from May 2012, which also said Facebook is building a smartphone.
Google Fiber Announcement Coming Today
Google is slated to give a Google Fiber-related announcement today, July 26. Google Fiber is a project to build a broadband internet network infrastructure with fiber-optic cabling in Kansas City, Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri. We will be watching https://fiber.google.com/ closely.
Nokia Maps to Get Groupon Integration
The upcoming version of Nokia Maps, 2.5 will get a route planner feature and Groupon integration, WP7forum reports. The new version should arrive on the Windows Marketplace soon.
