FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda “The US forces have desecrated the holy Quran in Afghanistan. Their presence only brought contempt and humiliation to the people of Afghanistan,” said Chairman of the Iranian Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Mohammad-Reza Mahdavi Kani.
Ayatollah Mahdavi Kani also warned Arab nations to be wary of the growing Western schemes for taking control of the democratic movements across the Arab world.
“The US and its allies are also trying to hijack the revolutions in the Arab world. People should remain vigilant and stop this from happening,” the senior Iranian cleric said.
On February 20, US soldiers burned the copies of the Holy Quran and other Islamic texts at the Bagram Airbase, southeast of the city of Charikar in the Afghan province of Parwan.
Following the Quran desecration US President Barack Obama sent a letter to his Afghan counterpart Hamed Karzai, apologizing for the actions of American forces in Afghanistan.
Obama told Karzai that the incident was not intentional, which sparked angry protests against US and NATO forces in Afghanistan and other Asian countries.
Scores have been killed during the anti-US protests in Afghanistan, where people have taken to the streets to show their outrage over the desecration of the Holy Quran.
