A security expert has said that President Trump’s seemingly “erratic” behavior towards North Korea, which at the time the media derided as putting the world at risk, was one of the key factors that forced Kim Jong-un to agree to start the process of denuclearization.
Yesterday Trump accepted Kim Jong-un’s offer of a meeting before May with the proviso that North Korea suspend its testing of missiles and begin the process of giving up its nukes.
Robert A. Manning, a senior fellow in the Atlantic Councils Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, told the Korea Herald that Trump’s sanctions were a big factor in the dramatic shift, but that Trump’s aggressive behavior was also a key component.
“Trumps erratic, madman demeanor has struck fear into Kim that Trump might actually attack,” said Manning.
As the headlines below illustrate, the mainstream media has relentlessly attacked Trump for his strong stance towards North Korea, repeatedly reacting to his efforts to pressure Kim Jong-un with hysterical narratives.
During an appearance on MSNBC back in January, MSNBC analyst Anand Giridharadas reacted to Trump’s “nuclear button” tweet by absurdly claiming that it could lead to the planet becoming uninhabitable.

Giridharadas blamed the tweet on Trumps “profound sexual and masculine insecurities,” before ludicrously suggesting that Trump was “literally threatening to annihilate the planet” and that his “sad insecurities” could end the world “in terms of a habitable planet.”
NBC News national security analyst Jeremy Bash also hysterically overreacted, asserting the tweet, “could lead to confrontation and maybe even war.”

CNNs Brian Stelter said the tweet was evidence that Trump was mentally unstable.
“What would we say if the leader of Germany or China or Brazil posted tweets like Trumps? How would we cover it? Wed say: That person is not well. Wed wonder whether that person is fit to hold office,” he told Anderson Cooper.
Now that Trump’s tough stance has brought North Korea to the table and moved the world closer to peace, one wonders if any of these individuals will be offering Trump an apology.
Don’t hold your breath.
