PF USA, exclusive distributor for Philips televisions and home theater options, recently received the Energy Star Most Efficient designation for four models of Philips LED 4000-series TVs. These four—26PFL4907, 26PFL4507, 32PFL4907 and 32PFL4507—have a modest environmental footprint in terms of lifecycle issues (including a reduced amount of packing and printing, all from post-consumer recycled paper). They also feature innovative technology that measures room lighting and adjusts picture screen brightness accordingly, thus meeting Energy Star 5.3 criteria.
Energy Star is a joint U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) program that helps protect the environment, and American consumers, through energy efficient products and practices. So far, the program seems to be working. For example, in 2010, with the help of Energy Star, Americans saved enough energy to avoid the amount of emissions that would otherwise be produced by 33 million cars, according to the program. That’s a lot of greenhouse gas!
Most Efficient is a new program element of Energy Star intended to identify and advance highly efficient products in the marketplace.”This effort identifies the most efficient products among those that qualify for the Energy Star in particular product categories,” Energy Star says. “Product categories were selected and recognition criteria were established to ensure that products that receive this recognition demonstrate efficiency performance that is truly exceptional, inspirational, or leading edge—consistent with the interests of environmentally motivated consumers and early adopters.” A PDF with the full guidelines for Most Efficient televisions is available from the Energy Star program.
The 4000 series, available in 26- and 32-inch sizes, operates through Smart Cloud technology to provide updates on TV programming and inform viewers about new features and upgrades, PF says. It also supports Tag gaming, which offers buyers the ability to play more than a dozen different and highly popular games, including Suduko and High Stakes Hold ‘Em. The slimline profile and narrow, brushed pewter bezel (the frame around the screen) with rounded edges delivers a TV that is as aesthetically pleasing when turned off as when turned on. In addition, TruSurround HD sound (on the 4907 series) or TruSurround XT sound (on the 4505 series) offers a fully immersive viewer experience.
