Brigadier General Hossein Salami said it was by relying on the youths that the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Seyyed Rouhollah Khomeini, confronted enemies such as ‘the US, West, arrogant powers and imperialists,’ driving them out of Iran.
“Iran is a powerful, free and advanced country, without which political or economic equations are impossible in the region and the world,” Salami said on Sunday.
During the eight-year Iraqi imposed war against Iran (1980-1988), the Islamic Republic was in fact directly facing the US and succeeded to stand up with might against all the global powers, he added.
He said that the resistance of Iranian youths continued after the war by neutralizing enemy plots such as economic sanctions and cultural invasion.
Elsewhere, Salami pointed to the wave of Islamic Awakening sweeping across the region and said the US and the West are facing a “political funeral” every day and “the fragrance of Islam can be sensed everywhere.”
