Eminem Reaches 60 Million Facebook Likes Before Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga may rule Twitter, but Eminem is the top star when it comes to Facebook Likes.

The rap star’s Facebook page reached 60 million Likes on Wednesday — the most for any living person, and beating out mega-stars Rihanna and Lady Gaga, who each have their own massive social media followings.

On Eminem’s Facebook page he typically posts links to YouTube videos of his music and interviews, with little or no comment. Despite the fact that writing in first person on your Facebook account is the best way to get more shares and Likes, it certainly doesn’t hurt to be uber-famous.

According to AppData, Eminem is close to nabbing more than 26,000 Likes each day, with Rihanna not far behind with 22,000 Likes per day.

But do Likes equate to engagement? Facebook offers the number of people “talking about this” alongside Likes on profiles. According to this number, Eminem has 290,896 people talking about him, while Lady Gaga has 1,209,588 and Rihanna has 1,016,304. This “talking about” metric was launched for Pages in October 2011 and measures activity relating to a page, including Likes and commenting. Sentiment, however, is not included in this metric.

For celebrities who rely on the social network to promote their music and movies, following a few simple Facebook rules could do wonders for their brand strategy. Did you know you can target certain audiences with posts based on location and language? Facebook also lets Pages users reposition photos by clicking the edit pencil in the right corner of the post. For special posts that you want to be front-and-center, click the star icon so it spans across the top of your page.

Eminem is on top of the Facebook Likes for now, although Rihanna is slowly creeping up on him. When it comes to Twitter, however, Lady Gaga is in the driver’s seat with more than 27 million followers.
