The body of an elderly Victorian pilot has been discovered in the wreckage of his light plane in NSW.
A massive search involving aircraft from three states was launched on Tuesday afternoon, more than a day after the 79-year-old Mildura man took off from an airfield at Wentworth, in New South Wales.
A helicopter spotted the crashed plane 10km west of the airfield about 5.30pm (AEST) on Wednesday.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority said the body of the pilot was found at the crash site.
Police are preparing a report for the coroner.
