TCP : Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held talks with Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and regional issues of common interest, Youm7 reported Tuesday.
Shoukry stressed the importance of strengthening the mechanisms of cooperation and communication between the U.S. Congress and the parliament of Egypt, Youm7 quoted spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid.
During the meeting, Shoukry presented Egypt’s vision in fighting terrorism and ways to peacefully solve the Syrian crisis along with supporting the formation of a national consensual government in Libya, said Abu Zeid.
The meeting came on the sidelines of Shoukry’s three-day visit to Washington DC that kicked off Sunday.
Shoukry also met with representatives of the major American Jewish Organizations and discussed ways to push forward the peace process in the Middle East and Egypt’s support to the two-state solution, said Abu Zeid.
Shoukry’s visit also witnessed meetings with top U.S. officials including Secretary of State John Kerry and security advisor Susan Rice, along with a number of congressmen.
