As part of the security campaign, a number of people who escaped judicial verdicts were arrested; besides, some 2.5 tons of smuggled fish and 25,000 meters of fishing net.

Over the past years, the Nasser Lake has witnessed a wide scale of negligence and waste due to “violations by fishermen and outlaws who mistakenly thought the lake is far from security surveillance,” Hamed el-Aqeely, assistant Interior Minister for water bodies police, told Youm7 in a video.

He added that security control has been imposed in the area to curb any possible violations in the future.
