RAFAH, (PIC)– Egyptian authorities resumed work in Rafah border terminal afternoon Wednesday but only allowed travel of 508 persons in both directions.

Travel procedures were very slow after they were suddenly disrupted by the Egyptian side due to a technical fault in the computer network, and after they were resumed eight Palestinians were denied permission to enter Egypt.

Only two buses and one ambulance car, carrying patients, were allowed entry.

The crossing officials said that 234 persons left the crossing into Egypt and 274 persons returned to Gaza.

The Egyptian army had gone on alert in the Sinai Peninsula earlier Wednesday after ten soldiers were killed and dozens others wounded in a booby-trapped car explosion targeting one of its convoys in northern Sinai.
