TCP : Egypt and China are expected to sign five agreements of cooperation Sunday during a meeting between President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and Liu Yandong, the Vice Premier of Chinese State Council, Youm7 quoted Education Minister Ashraf el-Shehy.
A number of programs will be tackled during the meeting aiming to activate bilateral agreements previously signed, Shehy stated.
Liu Yandong, who arrived in Egypt Friday, has attended the laying of cornerstone of the Confucius Institute new building at Cairo University on the sidelines of China-Egypt University President forum hosted by the University.
The institute was founded in 2007 for Chinese language instruction and cross-culture learning. After attracting many learners, Cairo University decided to provide the institute with a new headquarter near playgrounds.
During the foundation stone placement, Minister Shehy said that there are about 500 scholarships provided by Chinese universities to Egyptian students, adding that there will be students and teaching staff exchange programs.
In his statements, Shehy added that it is important to learn from China’s experiences, especially in the field of science and technology.
In January, both countries signed a total of 21 investment agreements worth billions of dollars during a visit by President Xi Jinping to Cairo. The memos cover the fields of technological and economic cooperation, as well as funding electricity and energy projects.
Six months after his inauguration, Sisi visited China on Dec. 22-25, 2014, aiming to promote cooperation with China.
