Schapelle Corby will be eligible for parole on Monday after the Kerobokan prison boss announced this week that Schapelle Corby’s sentence will expire on September 20 in 2017.
This will see Corby out of jail seven years earlier than expected and the 34 year old could be released even earlier if she is granted further remissions.
Corby’s lawyers are examining Indonesian legal documents, trying to determine whether a foreign drug smuggler can apply for parole.
Parole considerations for foreign drug smugglers in Indonesia is unprecedented and applications take at least a year.
The requirements usually involve a prisoner admitting some form of guilt, the acceptance of a religion and taking part in community programs.
Corby now faces the difficult task of convincing authorities and locals that she deserves early freedom.
