Double bombs made safe in N. Ireland

The police said the explosives at Castlewood Park and McArthur Avenue in the village of Dervock were “viable pipe bomb type devices” that were made safe by controlled explosions.

The security alerts in Antrim were followed by another alert at Belfast City Hall, which initially appeared to be targeting the city council but later was found to be a hoax.

This comes as media reports said officers and army bomb disposal experts are still at the sites of the alerts in Antrim.

The police have not explained the reason for their continued presence.
