FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda Love it or hate it, there is no denying that soccer (or to give it its proper name, football) is here to stay and remains a hugely popular sport worldwide. This particular Englishman will be glued to the gogglebox over the next few weeks as 16 of the best European squads gather in Ukraine and Poland to battle it out for the 2012 European Football Championships. Here are some Android apps to enhance your enjoyment of Euro 2012.
Official UEFA EURO 2012 App (Free)
The title is a bit of a mouthful, but this is the official app of Euro 2012, and worth downloading for free. The app features live scores and results as the games take place. It also offers customized alerts, the latest news, standings (during the group stage of the tournament) and photos. Although it doesn’t feature live streaming of the matches themselves, at least there will be video of game highlights once the matches are complete.
ESPNsoccernet (Free)
Released conveniently and just in time for the start of Euro 2012 on Friday, the ESPNsoccernet app offers great coverage of the championships with news, scores, updates and photos. But this is one app you’re going to want to keep once the tournament is over, too. It offers localized support for U.S. English, UK English or Spanish, and will keep you up-to-date on news and scores from leagues and tournaments around the world including the English Premier League, Spain’s La Liga, Italy’s Serie A, the Bundesliga in Germany and many more. Push notifications are promised in a future update and there are video and podcasts, too.
UEFA EURO 2012 ™ by Carlberg (Free)
The Danish brewing company is a major sponsor of Euro 2012 (after all, beer and football go so well together) and they’ve put together a pretty decent app for Android devices. There is daily news leading up to the tournament, team profiles and once the matches get going, the app promises free live commentary, which I assume is probably text-based. A video section includes venue guides and press conferences during the event itself.
WatchESPN (Free)
Your local ESPN and ABC channels will be broadcasting live matches during Euro 2012, but what if you can’t get to a TV? This is where WatchESPN comes in, but with one big caveat: the number of cable providers supporting this app is a little disappointing. Still, if you’re a customer of Bright House Networks, Time Warner Cable or Verizon FiOS TV, you’re in luck as WatchESPN streams live ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPNU broadcasts 24/7. While we’d clearly love to see more cable providers covered, there’s no denying WatchESPN could be a valuable app for footie fans to have at hand over the coming month.
British media and newspapers (Free)
While some American media outlets will no doubt be covering Euro 2012, if you want in-depth commentary and analysis about the event instead of just the latest scores and match reports, it’s probably worth digging into one of the popular UK newspapers. The Guardian, The Times (30-day free trial), Daily Mail Online and The Sun, as well as the slightly more limited BBC News app will be covering the event extensively throughout June. I’m pretty sure there are French, German, Italian, Spanish and other international language newspapers worth looking at too if you’re fluent, but as English speaker, the insightful commentary, gossip, snark and humor provided by the top British papers about Euro 2012 and the upcoming London Olympics is hard to beat.
