The bodies of three Australian soldiers killed on Saturday by an Afghan soldier in Kandahar province are on their way home.
Captain Bryce Duffy, 26, Corporal Ashley Brit, 22, and Lance Corporal Luke Gavin, 29, were honoured during a ceremony in Afghanistan yesterday.
Local troops lined the road and saluted the bodies as they were taken onto a Royal Australian Air Force Hercules for the journey home.
Major General Angus Campbell says the soldiers were held in high regard by their mates and their commanders, and their loss has deeply affected all Australian and coalition personnel serving in Afghanistan and the Middle East.
Seven other men wounded in the incident are receiving treatment at a medical centre in Germany.
