Kuala Lumpur, Dec 10, IRNA – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour in his keynote speech at the 8th Bali Democracy Forum Thursday said the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) should be regarded as an exemplary model demonstrating Iran’s skills in using interaction for resolving differences with the world.
The JCPOA truly indicates that Iran is determined to resolve differences and disputes through peaceful means, he said.
Addressing the meeting of representatives of over 80 countries at the 8th Bali Democracy Forum, he said the recent agreement between Iran and G5+1 marked the triumph of dialogue and failure of threat, pressure and sanctions.
On regional and global developments, he said the atrocities and crimes of terrorist groups such as Daesh and Al-Qaeda has nothing to do with the teachings of Islamic school of thought, he said.
He invited all countries to contribute in fight against terrorism and violence.
Democracy will be restored only through observing the legitimate rights of people and giving their due significant role in political and social arena, he said.
Active presence of people and observance of rule of law will lead to all-out flourishing of societies, he said.
He also expressed Iran’s views regarding the global peace and democracy.
Rahimpour went on to highlight Iran’s efforts in the past 37 years following the 1979 Islamic Revolution to promote religious democracy and public participation in the governance.
Initiated by Indonesia in 2008, the Bali Democracy Forum is an annual, inclusive and open intergovernmental forum on the development of democracy in the Asia Pacific region.
Indonesian Vice President Muhammad Jusuf Kalla inaugurated this year’s event.
Representatives of more than 80 countries have attended this year’s forum.
