When I first arrive at ICFF I always head for the Designboom shop. It isn’t always ready for customers (the designers tend to sleep in) but it always starts the day off on a happy note, to see so many clever young designers from all over the world, creating wonderful things.

Pallets are all the rage this year, so Carmen Dullnig of Barcelona’s Studio Labyrinth has created exact replicas of their bigger brothers, for heavy drinkers.

I liked the iPup iPhone case so much that I bought one. I didn’t even notice that the clip was shaped like a puppy, I just loved the idea of getting rid of my wallet by having my cards clipped to the back of my phone. It is a tight fit to get my drivers license and a credit card in there but it fits.

Lorea Sinclaire was there with her wonderful ceramic and cork tiffin lunch kit that I covered at Canada’s Interior Design Show. I wrote then:

Sinclaire says “her interest lies in the exploration of the relationship between physical and digital space, and how they play a part in a person’s experience in the world.” That’s why the process of making the Tiffin lunch kit is so interesting; she designed it using CAD, cut it out of foam with a CNC router, made plaster moulds and slip-cast the ceramics.
