Dershowitz will play Trump in Clinton’s debate rehearsal, WNYC reports

While trying to sell my book — did I say? Malvern? — the NY Times approved my ($5000!) ad: “And You Thought Alan Dershowitz Was the Worst Thing About Harvard.” Genesis of ad: the Crimson had refused to sell the book. Anyway, guy at the Times said all I had to do was have “advertisement” somewhere in the ad, as well as a graphic of the book. Done. Send them the pdf file. Then the Times got back to me, turns out ad wasn’t acceptable after all. How about: “And You Thought Alan Dershowitz Was the Most Outrageous Thing About Harvard,” they asked. Uh, no.

So then I went to — where else? — Yale. Their paper’s editor, Jeff Marsh, also gave me the okay. Told me when the ad would appear. Weeks later, seeing that the $280, I think it was, still hadn’t been withdrawn from my bank account, I contacted Marsh, asked if the ad ran. No, he replied. It was rejected. That was their polite way of informing me.

Just think: we are living in a time when not only does Yale refuse to poke fun at Harvard, it refuses to poke fun at Alan Dershowitz! Is the fix in or what?

So then I went to MIT, see if they’d take the ad. They wouldn’t. And the mumbo-jumbo explanation they gave was so preposterous I won’t even waste time on it. So that led to this ad:

“Thirty years ago, MIT students pulled off one of the great college stunts, inflating a balloon midfield at a Yale-Harvard game….

Today’s MIT would call it trespassing.”

That ad ran in the Boston College newspaper, The Heights.

Go Eagles!!!

Oh — just remembered. Columbia Spectator accepted, and ran, Dershowitz ad. Sorry, but don’t know their mascot.
