FNA- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi voiced his satisfaction in the ongoing cooperation between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
“Smooth and good cooperation is underway between Iran and the IAEA,” Araqchi, also head of the Joint Commission to Monitor the Implementation of the 2015 Nuclear Accord Between Tehran and the world powers, said after his meeting IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano in Vienna on Monday evening.
He reiterated that several report of the IAEA reports have confirmed that Iran has carefully implemented the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and has always been adhering to its commitments.
“Our duty is to eliminate likely obstacles and problems on the way of the JCPOA implementation,” Araqchi added.
In relevant remarks last Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif blasted his US counterpart Rex Tillerson for his remarks against Iran, and called on Washington to fully act upon its undertakings based on the 2015 nuclear deal with Tehran.
“The worn-out allegations by the US cannot cover the country’s admission of Iran’s implementation of its nuclear deal undertakings,” Zarif wrote on his twitter page.
“The US is required to change its path and act upon its undertakings,” he added.
The Trump administration said on Tuesday it was launching an inter-agency review of whether the lifting of sanctions against Iran was in the United States’ national security interests, while acknowledging that Tehran was complying with the nuclear deal.
In a letter to US House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan, the top Republican in Congress, on Tuesday Tillerson said Iran remained compliant with the 2015 deal.
Under the deal, the State Department must notify Congress every 90 days on Iran’s compliance under the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
It was the first such notification under US President Donald Trump.
