The Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) said the suspects were two brothers, aged 18 and 23, and were arrested in separate locations late Monday.
“One was arrested at his place of residence in Aarhus, Denmark, while the other was arrested upon arrival by plane to the Copenhagen Airport. In connection with the arrests, searches have been carried out at two addresses in Aarhus,” the PET said in a statement.
“The arrested are suspected of having been in the process of preparing an act of terror, among other things, through conversations about methods, targets and the use of weapon types,” it said.
The brothers had been under surveillance and one of them had been to a training camp in Somalia run by militants, the statement suggested.
The arrested men have been living in Aarhus over the past 16 years and are set to stand trial on Tuesday.
