Dell’s latest ultrabook, the XPS 13, will hit store shelves tomorrow, starting at $1199 for the base model.

Dell said in a statement today that the new ultrabook — the company’s pride and joy at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) — will be priced from $1199 for the 13-inch Intel Core i5-powered model with a 128GB solid state drive (SSD) and 4GB of DDR3 RAM.

The next model up is priced at $1499, and features similar CPU and RAM specs, while boasting an SSD of 256GB. The top-of-the-line configuration comes in at $1699, complete with an Intel Core i7 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD.

The device weighs in at 1.36 kilograms, and Dell says it will squeeze eight hours of battery life out of its six-cell, 47WHr battery.

Deborah Harrigan, Dell’s general manager for Consumer, Small and Medium Business in Australia and New Zealand, said that the device is being pitched strongly as both a consumer and enterprise device.

“The XPS 13 demands attention, crossing the realm between work and play, packing powerful technology into a small, portable package and delivering enterprise-friendly protection and security. It’s the ultimate mobile device,” she said.

The XPS 13 also has a backlit keyboard, while the chassis is built out of aluminium and carbon fibre.

Dell is selling the new ultrabook online as of today. Those preferring physical stores, however, can pick up an XPS 13 with a different configuration to online versions at JB Hi-Fi. This model sports an Intel Core i7 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD for $1499 from JB Hi-Fi stores, starting tomorrow.
