Debunking the Colonialism Excuse [1 of 3] – Mexican Backwardness Before White Man

This is part one of a three article series intended to expose the pathetic lying behind Marxist theories of Colonialism and Underdevelopment in the Third World, theories which fall into the absurd in their desperate attempts to ignore race as the explanation for a country’s failure.

Part 1: Mexican Backwardness before White man
Part 2: Marxist Explanations Debunked
Part 3: Modern Mexico; The Jewish dream for the West?

North American Colonies

We all know that North America was practically uninhabited at the beginning of the North American Colony and the few scattered Indian tribes who lived there stole land from one another as easily as they stole women.

We should also know that no land has ever been allotted by god to any specific people, but rather it belongs to the ones who can better work it and defend it, therefore I won’t waste more time defending the case for the North American Colonies (American success during the time it was a white country abundantly legitimates the taking of this land). I will rather focus on the Central and South American colonies as an example of what European Colonialism was, its reasons and consequences.

Background Before the Discovery of America

Colonialism and slavery were diligently practiced by the Native Americans themselves and the only domesticated animal the Aztecs knew was their fellow Indian.

Without having ever discovered the wheel or the domestication of animals, by the time of the European Renaissance the Aztecs still used pedestrians for delivering long distance messages and carrying goods. They even used human excrement (collected by hand from public latrines) in order to fertilize their fields, which naturally were worked by men using only sticks and not with an animal-driven-plow.

Even the new foods that entered the European diet after the discovery (which are often praised as “a gift from the New World”) were never in fact an important part of the Native American diet.

Since Marxist scholars are so fond of using the word “asymmetry” in order to describe the “unequal relationship between Europe and the colonies” (as if there could be equal relationships between different peoples) let me point out that the real “asymmetry” lies in the fact that Europeans brought more prosperity to the American Indians than the American Indians to Europe (but more about this later).

Chocolate in Aztec Mexico was only drunk, and only by the nobles during religious rituals. It was a bitter drink, which had nothing to do with what we know as chocolate today. Instead of milk and sugar it had chillies. We would consider it more like a purgative than a comforting drink suitable for children in winter time.

Tomatoes and potatoes played a rare role in Indian diets. Tomatoes only became desirable after European men made them suitable for eating through genetic breeding. What the Indians knew was only a smallish, bitter, yellow, thick-skinned fruit which the Italians named “Pomo d’oro” (yellow or golden apple), which was at first believed by many to be poisonous.

By now it should start to seem obvious that the reasons for Mexicans’ underdevelopment go beyond the times when Europeans even knew about their existence.

While Mexicans wasted every opportunity for domesticating an animal, driving them instead to extinction, people on the Old continent made great use of animal power and dairy products. While Mexicans had in their lands what could become very popular and useful vegetables and fruits, it had to be Europeans who later showed them how to make really great use of them.

The word that could best characterize the civilizations of Precolumbian America (and now, modern Latin America) is mediocrity. The so called “fascinating empires” of the Mayas, Aztecs, Olmecs, Teotihuacanos, etc. were merely a collection of primitive people who throughout the millennia never developed a culture beyond one of inefficient farming and Stone Age pyramids. All of these so called “empires” lasted only a few centuries just before collapsing one after another by their own lack of organization and technology.

That was all. No real written languages, except for the Mayans who had a very primitive one which they never used for real literature (subsequent civilizations in Ancient America never bothered to borrow a written language from the Mayans), no real philosophy (emperor Moctezuma was thought to be wise because he had aphorisms which said things as obvious as people being mortal), no technology, no domesticated animals, no weights or measures, no soap or cleaning stuffs, no useful metallurgy, just a bunch of people congregated by the chance discovery of agriculture into Materialistic, over-populated cities (very similar to modern Mexico).

Even their so much praised astronomy was not more sophisticated than the one of the Celts or Vikings. The fact that the Natives had a reliable astronomy is only proof that their priestly classes, without much high-culture with which to entertain their minds, had a lot of free time for watching the sky. The Aztec emperor, lacking a sense of perspective would rebuild the sun pyramid many times because whenever he looked for the star alignments from a different place, they shifted.

Human Sacrifice

I will just briefly mention human sacrifice because it is too well known as to deserve a longer space. There’s no denying that every human society has practiced human sacrifice. What’s astonishing about the American Indians is the unprecedented brutality and scale in which it was effected. Aztec religion can only be called (as a scholar assertively did) “Institutionalized cruelty”.

While the Celtic and the Germanic peoples killed very seldom and in order to improve their race and get rid of seriously antisocial elements (execution of criminals and enemies was dedicated to the gods), the Aztecs sacrificed in great numbers mostly to appease the bloodthirsty sun in the altar of superstition.

Among the Aztecs there was not a single festival, ritual or ceremony which didn’t involve the use of human blood, be it bleeding your own tongue, ears and penis at home to flaying people, extracting living hearts, bathing the gods figures with human blood, dismembering bodies, tearing the nails out of children (and killing them), eating human flesh, burning people alive, beating unarmed warriors to death, wearing other peoples skins, decapitation, ritual shooting with arrows, mob fights during feasts, etc. These practices have been demonstrated by forensics and archeology so they are not the fantasies or propaganda of “racist” Spaniards. Also all of these practices were outside the battlefield therefore we can safely assert those executed were not criminals, in fact the victims were chosen because of their courage and supposed physical beauty. With such dysgenic practices, one doesn’t wonder anymore why their civilizations weakened and collapsed after just a few years.

Race & Personality

The Aztecs were by Character lacking in individuality and uncreative; the talented genius was punished because of his deviations and conformism was very ingrained. Communal conformism without talent, instead of leading to improving society, leads to the perpetuation of brutally superstitious practices.

Modern Mexicans, also still have this fascination with gore and I believe it’s part of their character. Today human sacrifice has been abolished, but the inherited character of the people that enabled it in the past, has remained. The Aztec practices of sacrifice were very similar to modern cartel methods of killing, methods which are not attested in, for example, Medieval or Ancient Europe.

Differing from sixteenth century Germans (and Europeans in general) who as soon as the printing press began to work, demonstrated an unparalleled enthusiasm for reading and learning, Mexicans simply aren’t interested in reading, no matter the social class.

Books could not be cheaper and knowledge is more easily available then ever, nevertheless the current Mexican president when asked about his favorite book wasn’t able to come up with an answer, and today the most popular reading in Mexico is a magazine called “Alarma”, which is basically a morbid and sensationalist depiction of dismembered and mutilated bodies from people who died in accidents or were killed in crimes (there’s a book about this phenomenon called ‘Muerte!: Death in Mexican Popular Culture’ by Harvey Bennet Stafford but I have to warn you that the images are not for the faint-hearted).

Beauty and Evolution

Physiologically speaking the Aztecs had one of least gracilized* and least aesthetically beautiful physiques. Their physique evolved in order to cause fear and keep away the enemy rather than inspire trust and cooperation (as is in the case of the Aryan race). In native American societies every male was more probably an enemy than a cooperator.
This is indeed a dangerous combination since only beauty can inspire respect and progress. When there’s no respect for your fellow citizen, distrust impairs cooperation (the building block for a successful society). When you cannot find beauty in your fellow citizens, human life is seen as dispensable and valueless, a perfect recipe for having massive human sacrifice and apathy.

In conclusion, technology, literacy and the accumulation of culture can only develop the already present character of a race in more complex ways, but it can never change it, therefore we can see that the maladies of modern Latin America lay deep in the racial elements of its people and were already apparent before any contact with Europeans had even occurred.

Notes

*This word actually exists, it is a term from Biological anthropology. It describes an skeleton or human body which shows more sophisticated traits as opposed to primitive ones closer to Apes and other animals.
