A Hobart man has been charged after allowing his 14-year-old daughter to have sex with her 26-year-old boyfriend in the family home.
In what the ABC reports is an Australian first, the 59-year-old has pleaded guilty to a law designed to stop adults soliciting children.
The father-of-two allowed his teen daughter to have sex with her boyfriend in the house regularly because she had threatened to run away.
The Supreme Court in Hobart heard that the soliciting charge is not believed to have been previously used to prosecute a parent allowing underage sex in their home.
The father’s lawyer said he was faced with the choice of allowing the sex in his home or having his daughter go elsewhere.
The girl’s boyfriend has already been jailed for sex with a person under 17.
