The advert shows Fernando Zylberberg, an Argentine hockey player, preparing in
Stanley for the forthcoming Olympics, before presenting the viewer with the
slogan “To compete on English soil, we train on Argentine soil.”
It was created by the Buenos Aires subsidiary of Young Rubicam, whose
parent company is British advertising agency WPP.
“The English need the Argentines in order to do intelligent things,”
Mrs Kirchner said.
Her government will continue to broadcast the advert – which has also had more
than half a million hits on the presidential palace’s official YouTube
channel – even though YR’s head office in New York has asked for
it to be pulled.
