“When they get to Desroches we are making arrangements for the evacuation of
all the passengers and crew onto the island where they can have some food,
relax and speak to their families.
“Then we also organise for their transfer back to Mahe where we have our
international airport,” explained Seychelles presidential spokeswoman,
Srdjana Janosevic.
The Costa Allegra was on a month long cruise of the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea
and the Mediterranean.
Shares in Carnival, the American company that owns Costa Cruises, fell by
nearly two per cent on the New York Stock Exchange on news of the accident.
