The march was organized by several opposition politicians who accuse Hernandez of illegally using funds from the Honduran Institute of Social Security (IHSS) to finance his presidential campaign in 2013.

The demonstrators marched through the Kennedy colony, then the Central Boulevard and headed to the presidential palace through Boulevard Juan Pablo II with torches and chanting slogans against the government of (PN) National Party.

“Let them go, let them go” and “Who stole the Social Security? National Party!” shouted mobilizing participants, including members of the National Popular Resistance Front (FNRP) and supporters of the National Anti-corruption Party (PAC).

According to the opposition, Hernandez appropriated 90 million dollars from the IHSS institution (social security) responsible for providing medical and retirement benefits to workers in the public and private sector, and used the money to influence the vote during the general elections that brought him to power in January 2014.

This occurs while, for years, the Honduran Attorney has been investigating 40 people, including senior former officials of the previous government IHSS Porfirio Lobo, also PN (right), for a more than $300 million budget scandal of that administration.
