Connecticut Asks Nursing Homes to Accept COVID-Positive Patients From Hospitals

The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) is requesting nursing homes to take in COVID-positive patients to alleviate hospital overcapacity.
Yes, really.
Until Thursday, the state had required hospitalized COVID patients to test negative before being discharged, but this new guidance waives that requirement thanks to Gov. Ned Lamont’s (D) executive order.
“Hospitalized patients should be discharged from acute care whenever clinically indicated, regardless of COVID-19 status,” Public Health Commissioner Dr. Manisha Juthani wrote in the two-page memo.
