Congress Update: Worst Deal Ever?
By ns_adminhttp://www.campaignforliberty.org/congress-update-worst-deal-ever
The Senate has reached a bipartisan budget deal and like most things bipartisan it is bad. In fact it may be the worst deal ever.
Here are the details:
Lifts the budget caps and increases defense spending by $80 billion in Fiscal Year 2018 and $85 billion in Fiscal Year 2019, while only increasing domestic spending by $65 billion in Fiscal Year 2018 and $65 billion in Fiscal Year 2019.
The agreement provides $90 billion dollars in disaster aide.
The deal also provides $6 billion for grants to states to fight opioid addiction. The money will go to prevention programs and law enforcement, meaning there will be an increase in police militarization and civil liberties violations.
Bill provides $20 billion in new infrastructure spending.
One good thing is it repeals Obamacares Independent Payment Review Board.
The bill also extends the debt ceiling till March of 2019.
The Senate is expected to vote on this bill tomorrow and the House will vote soon afterwords. Campaign for Liberty members should call their Senators and their Representatives and tell them to vote against the budget deal.
