Post mortem examinations are expected to be carried out today on the bodies of a couple believed to be the subject of a murder-suicide at Waratah West.
Police say they responded to an Adelaide street address early yesterday morning after being alerted by a family member about a person threatening self harm.
When they arrived they found the the bodies of a 42-year-old woman and her 39-year-old estranged husband.
Detective Inspector Graham Parker says it was one of the couple’s two teenage daughters who called police.
“Police were alerted to the fact that a resident from inside the premises had been making threats of self harm,” he said.
“It was a family, the people that were located in the premises were an estranged husband and wife and their are two children also from the relationship.”
Inspector Parker says police are waiting on the results of the post mortem examination and forensic tests to establish the cause and time of death.
“At this stage it hasn’t been before the forensic pathologist to give us an indication of the time of death but we believe it was fairly immediate to the police arrival,” he said.
Inspector Parker has confirmed there was a history of domestic related incidents at the address but say no violence orders were in place.
