Perth commuters caught up in yesterday’s train chaos, will have their fares refunded….if they use Smartriders.

Trains on the Fremantle line ground to a halt during peak hour yesterday morning, after an electrical fire near the Perth train station.

The Midland and Armadale lines were also affected, delaying a total of about 30,000 commuters.

It took until 1:00 pm to get all trains back on track.

The Public Transport Authority apologised for the incident and will automatically refund all Smartrider transactions made before 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon.

People who paid cash for a ticket will not get their money back.
