FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda After promising to terminate the NBN if it comes to power, the coalition has changed its tune, saying it will continue with the rollout.
Opposition communications spokesman Malcolm Turnbull is quoted by Fairfax as saying he won’t cancel the estimated $1.8 billion worth of contracts already signed by NBN Co.
“The coalition’s aim is not to cancel contracts but rather, renegotiate existing contracts where possible to accommodate different architectures and lower the capital cost of the network and hence, the end cost to consumers,” Mr Turnbull said.
Mr Turnbull has called on the government to expand its brief and consider wiser ways of investing its capital to cut the overall cost of the network.
He said the coalition’s proposal would involve a cheaper fibre-to-the-node (or corner) rollout, instead of Labor’s fibre-to-the-premises installations.
These statements come almost two years after Opposition Leader Tony Abbot said the coalition would scrap the NBN project.
“If you want to cut spending, look at the NBN,” Mr Abbott said in 2010.
“Not proceeding with it could save billions of dollars.”
