Christie Brinkley called ‘narcissistic egomanic’ in custody dispute with ex-husband

In a 91-page court submission filed at Suffolk County Supreme Court in New York, Cook described the former model as a “narcissistic egomaniac”.

He claimed that she had once written an email to her son saying that Cook was “jealous of my success.” He claimed she owed him $25,000 (£16,000) for looking after their children while she was performing in the musical Chicago in London and New York.

During their acrimonious divorce five years ago, Brinkley accused Cook of spending thousands of dollars a month on internet pornography.

It also emerged that he had paid their 18-year-old neighbour, Diana Bianchi, $300,000 (£189,000) to keep quiet about an affair they had been conducting.

Brinkley testified that Cook was an over-strict disciplinarian who used too much force on their children, while he asked a judge to order her to attend anger management classes. A court psychiatrist said that both of them needed therapy.

Under the terms of the final divorce settlement, Brinkley gave Cook $2.1 million (£1.3 million), in return for custody of the children and 18 properties the couple owned in the exclusive Hamptons resort on New York’s Long Island.

During her marriage to Billy Joel, Brinkley become known as the epitome of blonde, all-American good looks.

She graced the cover of Sports Illustrated three times in a row between 1979 and 1981.
