China regards dialogue as the only way to reach an understanding on Iran’s nuclear energy issue and strongly opposes sanctions, pressure and threats against Tehran, said Hu in a meeting with Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Beijing on Friday.
He added that the Chinese government is keen on expanding relations with Iran in all spheres, calling for joint Tehran-Beijing management of the changing situation in the international arena to serve the interests of their people and other independent nations.
The Iranian president, for his part, pointed to “the historical, constructive and cordial” relations between the two countries and said their bilateral cooperation is basically founded on promoting international peace and security and ensuring justice for all nations.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran places no restrictions to the expansion of all-out ties with China,” Ahmadinejad further stated.
He noted that Tehran and Beijing have agreed to increase the value of annual trade exchanges to 200 billion dollars and expressed Iran’s readiness to expand the bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
The Iranian and Chinese chief executives also called for improvement in the two countries’ cultural, scientific, educational and tourism collaborations.
