‘China space gains not from spying’

The US Defense Department and State Department made the charge in a jointly prepared a report.

The two departments also advised the US government to tighten controls over exports of items used in the production of satellites to countries like China.

“China deeply regrets the relevant report from the U.S. administration, and is firmly against the groundless accusation made against China,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said on Friday.

Beijing insists that its achievements in its space program should be attributed to the innovation of the Chinese nation and not to spying on other nation’s technologies.

The Chinese government has said it will continue its “peaceful” development of space technology and will even “share it with other countries.”
