The strike occurred in the Charganokaly area on Monday and the attackers managed to escape from the scene.
“It was a hand grenade attack in which [a] four-year[-old] child lost his life and two others were injured,” a police official told Press TV.
So far, no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants are the main suspects in the incident.
Over the past several years, the militants have destroyed hundreds of schools especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The TTP has banned female education in northwestern Pakistan in a move that has affected thousands of girls in the region and caused the number of enrolments to drop dramatically.
