Charles costs UK taxpayers more in 2011

It has been revealed by the prince’s annual account that Charles received almost 2.2 million pounds ($3.4million) from grants and government departments in the year to March 31, which is a rise of 11 percent comparing to the year before.

While the cost of his son, William’s royal wedding remains confidential, figures show that Charles, the heir to the throne’s income and expenditures both rose at the cost of the taxpayers in the UK.

The British Prince receives a large income from properties and investments of the Duchy of Cornwall. A land the size of 136,000 acres was established in the 14th century to provide income for the heir to the throne.

Due to the British Prince frequently using air travel, was a result in carbon costs being relatively high, with a 38 percent rise in carbon dioxide emissions brought about by overseas travel.

The accounts relate to 11 months after Prince William’s wedding with Kate Middleton, currently known as the Duchess of Cambridge, a new member of the British royal family.

Moreover, the cost of the Westminster Abbey wedding that took place on 29 April 2011 remains discreet. This could be due to extremely high figures feared to trigger anger and frustration to many Britons who disapprove of the royal family’s presence.
