On May 17, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers took Jose Manuel Martinez, 50, into custody after he crossed into Arizona from Mexico. A routine records check revealed an outstanding warrant for murder in Alabama.

Lawrence County (Ala.) Sheriff’s investigators questioned Martinez and he quickly confessed to the murder, as well as many others.
In fact, Martinez has already confessed to more than 30 murders across the country, ten of them in California alone.
LCSO Capt. Tim McWhorter told WBRC:
“You work the evidence. You work those types of angles to build a good case in the event you don’t get a confession. Obviously, when you get a confession for the case, that can be a surprise in itself. But when they start confessing to other cases that you’re not investigating, it is a shock. You don’t expect to encounter someone that tells you they possibly killed over thirty people.”
Martinez has also confessed to a 2006 double-murder in Marion County, Florida.
Martinez shot Javier Huerta and Gustavo Olivares-Rivas to death in the Ocala National Forest back in November 2006, leaving their bullet-riddled bodies in a pickup truck.
DNA evidence had already linked Martinez to the murders.
Central Florida News 13 reported:
“From his statements, he’s killed over 30 people throughout the United States so this is what he does, he’s an individual who goes around and collects debts for the cartels and kills people,” said Det. TJ Watts with the sheriff’s office.
According to authorities, Martinez said he killed while collecting drug-related debts in retaliation for things done to his family members, and that he even claims he murdered child sex predators in vigilante-style killings.
It will likely take several months for law enforcement officials around the country to interview Martinez and sort-out the details in the dozens of yet, unsolved murders.
To date, Martinez has not admitted to which cartel he works for, as he claims doing so, could put his family in grave danger.
